Along the way, you may see Maasai people in colourful traditional dress, herding cattle or travelling through the countryside. On arrival in Tarangire, enjoy an extensive game drive.
Tarangire is renowned for its large elephant herds, seasonal swamps, open savannah and the Tarangire River. Search for zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, elephants, giraffes and, with luck, lions or leopards resting in the trees.

Day 3: Tarangire to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, continue towards the fertile highlands, where the Iraqw people cultivate coffee, maize and wheat. Travel through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying views of the vast Ngorongoro Caldera before continuing towards Serengeti National Park.
The word Serengeti means “endless plains” in Maa, the language of the Maasai. Arrive in time for a game drive through one of Africa’s most famous wildlife destinations.
The Serengeti is among Tanzania’s largest parks, with diverse habitats including grasslands, swamps, lakes, savannah and rocky hills. Depending on the season, you may have an opportunity to witness large herds of wildebeest and zebras moving in search of fresh grazing and water.
After lunch and game viewing, continue to camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Full-day game drive in Central Serengeti
Today is dedicated to a full-day game drive in Central Serengeti. The park supports an abundance of wildlife, including wildebeest, elephants, impalas, buffaloes, crocodiles and hippos. It is particularly famous for the Great Wildebeest Migration, when enormous herds of wildebeest and zebras move in response to rainfall patterns.
The timing and route of the migration vary from year to year. Generally, herds move south towards the Ndutu plains around November and December, then return northwards during the long rainy season from April to June.
Alongside the migrating animals, look out for predators such as lions, leopards and cheetahs. Return to camp in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, depart the Serengeti and travel to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend the crater walls for a full-day game drive inside this extraordinary natural wonder.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ngorongoro Crater was formed millions of years ago when a giant volcano collapsed. It is approximately 610 metres deep and covers about 260 square kilometres. Its rich grasslands, forests and lakes support an exceptional concentration of wildlife.
Look out for wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, elephants, lions and more than 500 bird species. With luck, you may also spot the endangered black rhino.
After a picnic lunch and afternoon game viewing, ascend the crater walls and continue to Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.
