Accommodation: Tanzania Safari LodgeMeal plan: Bed and breakfast

  • Day 2: Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, your driver-guide will collect you from your lodge and depart for Tarangire National Park with packed lunch boxes.

Tarangire is known for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, seasonal swamps and the Tarangire River. During your game drive, look out for zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, giraffes, elephants and a variety of birdlife. With luck, you may see lions stalking prey or leopards resting in the trees.

After your game drive, continue to Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.

Accommodation: Kankari Lodge KaratuMeal plan: Full board

  • Day 3: Central Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, depart for Central Serengeti National Park. Enjoy a scenic drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area before entering the famous Serengeti plains.

Arrive in time for a picnic lunch and an afternoon game drive. Serengeti National Park is renowned for the Great Wildebeest Migration, where vast herds of wildebeest, zebras and antelopes move in search of fresh grazing and water. The park is also home to resident predators, including lions, leopards and cheetahs.

Later, proceed to camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Accommodation: Kontiki Serengeti CampMeal plan: Full board

  • Day 4: Northern Serengeti and Mara River

After an early breakfast, travel to Northern Serengeti with packed lunch boxes. Spend the day exploring the Mara River area, one of the most dramatic locations for witnessing the Great Migration.

Your guide will position you in the best available areas for wildlife viewing and, when conditions allow, river-crossing sightings. Watch as wildebeest and zebras gather near the river, while Nile crocodiles and predators such as lions, leopards and cheetahs add to the drama of this remarkable ecosystem.

The best period for Mara River crossings is generally from July to early October, although wildlife movements follow rainfall patterns and cannot be guaranteed.

  • Day 5: Northern Serengeti to Central Serengeti

After breakfast, enjoy a final game drive in Northern Serengeti, keeping a special focus on the migration herds and other wildlife around the Mara River area.

  • Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, depart Central Serengeti for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with packed lunch boxes. Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive in one of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife settings.

Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its floor supports around 30,000 large mammals, including buffaloes, lions, elephants, cheetahs and, with luck, the endangered black rhino. It is also home to abundant birdlife, including flamingos, eagles and buzzards.

After your crater game drive, continue to Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.

Accommodation: Kankari Lodge KaratuMeal plan: Full board

  • Day 7: Lake Manyara National Park and departure

After breakfast, depart for Lake Manyara National Park for a morning game drive. This scenic park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, large troops of baboons, elephants, giraffes and varied birdlife around its soda lake.
